St. Naum of Ohrid
Saint Naum, also known as Naum of Ohrid, was a medieval saint and disciple of Saints Cyril and Methodius, who were the creators of the Glagolitic alphabet and missionaries to the Slavic peoples. Naum is particularly associated with the spread of Christianity in the region of Ohrid, Macedonia.
According to the hagiographical accounts, Saint Naum dedicated his life to the Christian faith and education. He played a significant role in the establishment of the Ohrid Literary School, a center for the preservation and dissemination of Slavic culture and literature. Saint Naum is remembered for his missionary work, educational contributions, and spiritual leadership in the 9th and 10th centuries.
His legacy lives on through the Ohrid Literary School, which played a crucial role in the development of the Cyrillic alphabet, the script widely used in Slavic languages today. Saint Naum is venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
